About Baroque String Instruments

Here’s a short video I did on baroque string instruments and how they compare to their modern counterparts. If you learn how a violin was different in Bach’s time, you understand his music on a deeper level. By appreciating what the composer had to work with, we gain deeper insight into the repertoire.

As always, let me know your thoughts. If you found the video useful, “like” this post or share it with modern string players or early music fans who might like to know.

  1. This is awesome! Very clear and informative. We’re going to try to do some of these videos for wind instruments on the Grand Harmonie website when we get a chance.
